Outlook Express 6 IMAP Settings
To start Outlook Express, look for the Outlook Express icon on you desktop. It will look like the one below. If this icon is missing on your desktop, you can click on the start button, then Program Files, and finally Outlook Express.
 
When the program first starts the window above will appear. To add an E-mail account, click on the Tools menu then select Accounts.
Once you click on Accounts, the window below will appear.
To add the new account, click on Add button in the right corner of the window. Next you'll be given a menu that looks like the one below. Just click on word Mail to start the Internet Connection Wizard.
The first window to appear will ask you for a Display name. The Display name is a name that will appear in the E-mail you send out. When people receive your E-mail they will see what you type in this section in the From section of Outlook Express. It doesn't matter if you type in all caps or lower case. Once you've finished, click on Next button.
The next window will ask for your email address. Fill in your email address in Tri-Isys, for example juandlc@tri-isys.com
Once you finished typing in your E-mail address click the Next button.
E-mail Server Names will be the next window to appear. Select IMAP - stands for Internet Message Access Protocol. This is the type of server that we use for IMAP. Make sure the box has IMAP selected
In the incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server section you need to type in pop3.tri-isys.com (This must be in all lower case no spaces)
In the outgoing mail (SMTP simple mail transfer protocol) server section you need to type in smtp.tri-isys.com (This must be in all lower case no spaces)
Once you finished with that section click the Next button to continue.
The next window is the Internet Mail Logon window.
Account name is you E-mail user name (for this example juandlc is the E-mail username). You must type in all lower case for this section.
Password is the E-mail password for this E-mail user name. This section also needs to be in all lower case if you use letters for your password. Make sure that there are no spaces also.
Click the Next button to continue.
You have now completed the creation of a IMAP E-mail account in Outlook Express. Click the Finish button to complete the process.
The next window that appears will be the Internet Account window. This window will show the account you just added. Click the Close button to close the account window.
After clicking close, a message box will prompt and will ask you if you would like to download folders from the mail server you added. Select YES.
Then click OK.
